The client machine has the operating system Xubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus) w/ Kernel 4.4.0
Vmware horizon view 7.1 is used. The horizon agent 7.1 is installed in the windows 7 and windows 10 gold images.
Passbook Printer: Lipi-PB2. Home > Printers > Passbook Printers > Lipi-PB2. Passbook Printers are used for processing forms & printing passbooks for banking.
The scenario we are trying is with linux on the client machine and windows on VDs.
However with the windows on the client machine and windows on the VDs works well. In that scenario olivetti printer driver is installed in the windows client machine and the same driver is installed in VDs. After connecting the printer to the client machine with a serial connection we can successfully redirect the printer to the VD. In VD printer we selected the ThinPrinter port and can successfully print.
We tried this scenario on linux with the serial connection. But the driver is not supported by the above mentioned linux OS (in the client machine). It detects the printer but when the test page is printed the output is a unreadable jargon with ASCII characters. (We tried to redirect it to the VDs in this stage, but the VDs did not detect it)
Then we tried with the USB connection. The USB produced a good test page from the client linux machine. Then we USB redirected to the VD. The VD detected the printer in 'Devices and Printers'. However once the print is initiated from the VD, it successfully send the print job to the linux client machine. But print job state goes from processing to idle in the linux client machine. However the print job from the VD succeeds if we unplug the USB cable from the client machine and plug it to a different USB port in the client machine.
My question is, is there a compatible driver for the Citic PB2 passbook printer? The printer datasheet shows that it supports the following emulations. But none works with serial connection with the linux client machine.
Olivetti - PR40, PR50, PR54, PR2, PR2E
IBM - PP2, X24, 4722, 4748, 9068
OKI - simulate 13.2 inches
EPSON - simulate 13.6 inches
HPR 4915
Hitachi - passbook printer
Shinko
Also do we need to have some platform between the linux client OS and the windows VD when redirecting from a linux machine to a windows VD?
